An Update: FSS – Skyservice™ FBO News at Toronto’s Pearson Airport

FSS - Skyservice

Today FSS and Skyservice™ would like to provide an update on our Joint Venture Agreement announced in early summer. As announced we have both come together to develop and operate a leading FBO at the new FSS Aerocentre being developed on the south side of Toronto’s Pearson International Airport. To date we are pleased to report that much progress has been made to resolve a number of site issues and to refine the design engineering of the project. Our shared objective to ensure a world class facility that will deliver an entirely new standard of convenience that both simplifies and enhances business aircraft operations within Canada’s busiest airport has begun to be realized.

“Runway access is a critical key component for the new FSS – Skyservice ™ FBO site and now we have a direct route to the end of the most commonly used runway, immediately beside the FBO. After months of research and analysis by NavCanada, the Greater Toronto Airport Authority and FSS as the site developer, a taxiway design that optimizes the flow of aircraft was developed and is nearing completion. Jointly funded by FSS and under construction by the GTAA, the new taxi complex will have a direct connection to the new ramp expected in the late Spring of 2017” said Ian A. McDougall, CEO of FSS.

In addition to being in joint partnership with FSS in the operation of the FBO, Skyservice™ is the dominant tenant at the site and will occupy the largest hangar. Emlyn J. David, President of Skyservice™ Business Aviation reinforced the importance of an FBO development plan with FSS that meets unique standards of operational efficiency. “Skyservice™ takes enormous pride in our company’s award winning history and, with FSS, we are comfortable that our new site will meet or beat the service standards of the best in the world.”

The entities have begun to ensure a pooling of capacities under a Site Services Agreement between Skyservice™, Partner Jet, MxAerospace and FSS related entities which include Managed Services and a licensed commercial helicopter operator.

In an important related announcement Skyservice™ has now tasked Aligned Aviation Developments Services, a joint venture company including FSS and EllisDon, one of Canada’s largest construction companies, to assess development as project developer of its new North Field facilities site known locally as the “skeet lands“.

“These are exciting times for all of us. The alignment between the GTAA’s goals for the airport and the appetite to see change by operators have combined to create a unique opportunity to work in partnership to make it all happen” said McDougall. “I know that I speak for everyone when I say that we are pleased to be a part of it all.”
