Corporate Responsibility

Our ESG commitment

At Skyservice, our commitment to ESG initiatives is not only a priority, it’s our way of doing business. From our board of directors and the executive management team to our staff at each of our locations, we collectively strive to be better corporate citizens.

Since our founding in 1986, we have been firmly committed to making a difference in our world through equitable operations, strategic charitable investment and environmentally friendly initiatives. Today, that commitment takes on new meaning as we measure, manage and enhance our ESG impact in line with international best practices. Our collective aim at Skyservice is to help raise the bar for ESG standards globally within our industry.

Skyservice ESG initiatives include:

  • Diversity, equity & inclusion

  • Social engagement

  • Greener choices

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI)

Skyservice promotes a diverse workplace. Founded on the skill and dedication of our people, we understand that investment in our employees and active support of their unique contributions is essential. We firmly believe that our DEI focus inspires greater collaboration, innovation and overall company performance. Our goal is to build a stronger company fueled by collaborative efforts from an employee base that celebrates diverse genders, cultural backgrounds and all aspects of individuality.

Investing in Our Communities
Skyservice is vested in shaping the sector’s future and helping ensure its success and longevity. A brighter tomorrow depends on fostering the next generation of private aviation professionals today. That’s why Skyservice focuses its charitable giving and social governance efforts on bridging the skill gap in aviation, educating people about rewarding careers in private aviation, and supporting sustainable initiatives that impact the communities we serve.
Environment
Environment: Climate Change
As a company, we launched several initiatives to reduce our carbon footprint and environmental impact. This past year, Skyservice announced an ambitious goal to be carbon neutral by 2050. To kick off this initiative, Skyservice in partnership with World Fuel, became the first business aviation company to offer sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in Canada at our Toronto FBO facility. To further decarbonize aviation and extend the benefits of sustainable aviation fuel to all Skyservice locations, Skyservice launched a book-and-claim program in partnership with Air Elite across each of our locations.

Book-and-claim allows customers to purchase SAF from any Skyservice location and claim the carbon reduction credits, even though the actual fuel purchased is dispensed at a different airport (where SAF is available) and will be consumed by a different aircraft.

Skyservice is also upgrading its fleet vehicles with electronic powered vehicles, where available and appropriate. Our newest FBO location, Skyservice South at Toronto Pearson International Airport, offers shuttle service to customers in an electric Polaris GEM E4 Golf cart.

We’ve also taken positive steps to reduce our energy consumption. Our new Toronto facility was designed as a state-of-the-art, energy-efficient building, and we are actively replacing conventional hangar lighting with efficient LED bulbs and automating lights and thermostats throughout our facilities and offices. We’ve also implemented effective, non-toxic and environmentally safe sanitization solutions throughout our fleet and our facilities. In addition, we’ve significantly reduced paper consumption and estimate that we have eliminated 10,000 plastic water bottles per year by encouraging use of reusable containers and recyclable cups. Each decision we make is evaluated through a “green” lens.

Our ESG achievements empower our team and reinforce the value of our work, both for our clients as well as our world. We are enthusiastic about the future, one that supports a green economy and embraces diversity, equity and inclusion. Together, we’re creating conditions that promote success for everyone.
